X-23 Has Been Cancelled
Well this is depressing.
X-23, Marvel’s longest current ongoing with a female lead, written by their most prominent female writer, was not solicited for February and CBR confirmed that it has been cancelled.
While Marvel is quick to assure us that Marjorie Liu still has work in the pipeline, CBR is quick to point out that X-23’s cancellation does not fit in with Marvel’s recent pattern of cancellations: it’s not a miniseries, and it’s outselling a number of titles that are continuing, such as Thunderbolts and X-Factor.
I’ve been concerned that Marvel’s recently stated intention to focus on their core ongoings would have a detrimental effect on both female characters and female creators (who tend to work on minis more than ongoings). This cancellation is not making me feel any better. Especially since the only other female-led ongoing is the new Ghost Rider, whose predecessors haven’t exactly had the best track record for longevity.
Well… dang.

What a sad passing. I thought his Justice League run was one of the best and I wished they had let him do what he wanted to do there and treated it as the DCU flagship title it could/should be.
